THE LUNAR NEW YEAR IS COMING SOON

January 18, 2012

The Lunar New Year 4710 begins January 23, 2012. In the lunar system of Months, the new moon day is the first day of a lunar month. The length of a lunar month is the length of time between two new moon days.

It is believed that Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. When twelve animals arrived, Buddha named a year after each animal. From that point on Buddha declared that people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality.

Buddha

This is a Dragon year and the traits associated with this animal are innovative, brave and passionate.

The Chinese year is 4710 and is the year of the Dragon

Yes! My father was born the year of the dragon. It’s also how Chinese people keep track of people’s ages. I was in Chinatown San Francisco on Sunday and there was a holiday street fair. It was really crowded with everyone getting ready for New Year’s. Happy year of the dragon!
